Conference or Training Course

 

Purpose

These grants are intended to support international keynote speakers and early career researchers at neurology and neuroscience conferences in New Zealand, or facilitate early career researcher participation in advanced training courses in New Zealand or Australia.

 

Scope

* National and international neurology and neuroscience conferences

* Conferences must be in New Zealand or Australia

* The academic conference convenor

 

What can be funded?

* Support for early career researcher participation in conferences and advanced training courses, such as

* Support for international keynote speaker participation, such as

 

What will not be funded?

* Support for members of the conference or training course organising committees

* Alcohol

* Business Class Airfares

 

Maximum value

* $20,000

 

Closing dates

If the closing date falls on a weekend or holiday, it will be extended to the next working day.

* 1 April and 1 September

 

Process

* For grant round 2024B the Foundation will not be using this online portal. Download an application form at www.neurological.org.nz/research/funding-opportunities/

* Complete the application form, including signatures from your host organisation. The Neurological Foundation will only accept applications sent by the host organisation

* The budget requested should be in NZD. The Neurological Foundation will not award more than is requested in the budget

* Supporting documentation:

* Applicants will be advised of the outcome early in July or December

* Successful applicants will be informed of the conditions of the grant and asked for their formal acceptance of the funding contract

 

General Advice

Purpose

The Neurological Foundation’s purpose is to “Be a catalyst to improve the future quality of life for New Zealanders impacted by neurological conditions”.

This includes diseases and disorders of the central and peripheral nervous systems. The Neurological Foundation will accept applications for conferences or training courses aligned with this purpose, that contribute to our understanding of, prevention, diagnosis, prognosis, treatment, or management of neurological conditions.

Resubmission

If unsuccessful, applicants can resubmit their proposal in a subsequent grant round. However, the Scientific Advisory Committee believes that a third submission of an unsuccessful application is not appropriate. Therefore, only one resubmission of a conference or training course grant application will be accepted.
