Travel Grant

 

Purpose

These grants are intended to support recipients of eligible project, scholarship or fellowship funding from the Foundation to attend conferences, meetings, and training.

 

Scope

* The applicant will present a paper or poster about the funded research, attend a training course on research methodology relevant to the project, or be visiting a laboratory or clinic for a specified purpose relevant to the project

 

Who can apply?

* Investigators on a project funded by the Foundation

* Recipients of a research or clinical fellowship from the Foundation

* PhD students receiving a PhD scholarship from the Foundation

 

What can be funded?

* Conference registration

* Economy Class Airfares

* Domestic transfers

* Accommodation

* Per diem costs

 

What will not be funded?

* Named investigators on a small project funded by the Foundation

* Business Class Airfares

 

==Maximum value

* $4,200 for eligible grants awarded prior to 2019

* $4,500 for eligible grants awarded since January 2019

More than one travel grant can be applied for, but the combined value of all travel grants can not exceed the maximum value.

Travel grants can be applied for at any time

 

Process

* Download an application form at www.neurological.org.nz/research/funding-opportunities/

* Complete the application form, including signatures from your host institution. The Neurological Foundation will only accept applications sent by the host institution’s research office

* The budget requested should be in NZD. The Neurological Foundation will not award more than is requested in the budget

* Supporting documentation:

* Applicants will be advised of the outcome within one month

* Successful applicants will be informed of the conditions of the grant and asked for their formal acceptance of the funding contract

 

General Advice

Purpose

The Neurological Foundation’s purpose is to “Be a catalyst to improve the future quality of life for New Zealanders impacted by neurological conditions”.

This includes diseases and disorders of the central and peripheral nervous systems. The Neurological Foundation will accept applications for travel aligned with this purpose, that contribute to our understanding of, prevention, diagnosis, prognosis, treatment, or management of neurological conditions.

Research contracts

Successful applicants will be offered funding contracts that outline the conditions of the grant, including the following:

* The host institution will administer the grant

* The grant will have a specific start date and end date

* The Foundation will expect to be acknowledged in presentation materials

* A final report will be required within 3 months of the travel
